Jon draws on nearly two decades of experience as both an advisor and operator to enable clients to achieve profitable, above-market growth. His expertise spans portfolio strategy, innovation, and building new brands and businesses from the ground up.
A former Partner at McKinsey & Company, Jon has advised leading consumer-facing companies around the world. These clients have included both Fortune 500 incumbents seeking to unlock the next horizon of growth and upstart challengers looking to shake up the status quo.
Jon also has firsthand experience driving operational success. As the Global Head of Partner Operations for Local Expert, a division of Expedia, Inc., he expanded the business from a regional focus to a worldwide presence, delivering significant gains in profitability and efficiency.
An unabashed foodie who brings that passion to work, Jon has particular depth in food and beverage. He has collaborated with F&B growth leaders in CPG, retail, restaurants/QSR, technology, private equity, and venture capital.
Many of these former clients remain as confidants, friends, and advisors, and where appropriate and valuable, Jon brings these experts to Die Hard clients to bring further lived experiences and lessons to bear.
Lu Liu
Principal
Lu brings 15+ years experience across Retail and Technology as an operator and advisor at Google, Amazon, and McKinsey & Company. A strategic and results-oriented advisor, Lu excels at helping clients accelerate growth and build efficient, scaled operations.
As a consultant at McKinsey, Lu focused on commercial optimization encompassing growth, pricing, and go-to-market strategies, uniquely connecting commercial and operational aspects of a business. Lu also led the Boston office’s support of local startups, where she guided founders in sharpening their strategic vision, defining target markets, and crafting compelling value propositions.
As an operator, Lu played a critical role at two global leaders: Amazon and Google. She leaned on her strong financial acumen to own analytics and financial decision making for Amazon China’s marketing function. At Google, she led the direct acquisition program for Google’s Scaled Business Strategy and Operations team, working closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., sales, marketing, and product) to drive results.
With a deep cultural understanding and a global perspective gained from living and working in China, the U.S., and Australia, Lu brings invaluable insights to clients navigating international growth and cross-market expansion.
